Oyo: Don’t sell us, group warns, drums support for Akala

The Bayo Alao Christopher Akala (BACA) Youth Vanguard Initiatives has urged the electorate and the youths in the 33 local government areas of the state to vote for Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala. It said that a vote for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), would lead to the annexation of the state to Lagos. Its co-ordinator, Comrade Samsudeen Adeneowo, noted that an ACN government in the state would pauperize the citizenry and make them slaves.

BACA said that for instance, the Tejuoso Market in Yaba, was reconstructed, the state government imposed a ridiculous amount on its rentage wondering why it expected an average trader to cough out N2.5 million yearly as rent for a shop:

“How on earth can you expect a trader to get N2.5 million to rent a shop? The shops were shared among top political appointees, permanent secretaries and other party leaders. The government of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has been killing Lagosians with deceit.
“It awarded the 50 kilometers Lekki Expressway at a contract sum of N50 billion which translated to Nl billion per kilometer.

The establishment of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) was not done in good faith. The people of Lagos State were paying with their blood. “If you go to Iyana Ipaja, Agege, Epe and others, you would see government neglect. The Fashola government is only interested in developing urban areas such as Ikeja for it to recoup urgodly taxes.
“We as youths want to control our own destiny in Oyo State.

We don’t want a non-indigene to control your lives. The ACN government would be dependant on Fashola government which is only interested in urban areas. Go and check, 95 per cent of political office holders in Lagos State are non indigenes. Are there no competent indigenes of the state, who could hold these positions?

“We are pace setters in Oyo State and cannot afford to have our freedom and sovereignty lost to Lagos. Our people should vote for Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala for the good works to continue. We can’t be servants to Lagos. We in Oyo State are highly sophisticated and politically matured to control our collective destiny.”
