Police declare war on Boko Haram – Terrors experts in US, Israel, UK contacted

The Nigeria Police has resolved to go all out in its crackdown on Boko Haram. This is coming at a time a team of experts from the United States, United Kingdom and Israel have been approached by the Nigerian authorities for assistance in unravelling the power behind the group and spate of bombings in the country.

Saturday Sun gathered that after analysing existing information, the police authorities have caome to the conclusion that Boko Haram is a mere code name for the Islamic group.
Sources said that the police are putting everything in their investigation to unearth the real name of the terror organisation and its sponsors.

As part of the move, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hafiz Ringim spent most part of yesterday brainstorming with his top shots. It was gathered that the police top echelon plotted ways of cracking the stronghold of the Boko Haram and any other group linked with it.

On the invitation of experts from abroad, sources revealed that contacts have been made in US, UK and Israel and that terror experts are expected in the country to work with the police to nail Boko Haram. The team from abroad is expected in the country any moment from now.

Meanwhile, stern looking stern-looking policemen yesterday manned the entrance and premises of police headquarters, Abuja.
Saturday Sun learnt that the inability of the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) installed at the Force Headquarters to pick the explosive-laden vehicle or the identity of people who came into the premises before the bomb blast, sparked some controversy among the top echelon of the police yesterday.

Although the Police authorities had put the number of deaths at only two, hospital sources at Asokoro District Hospital alone said over 10 people were brought into the hospital dead. The figure was aside from those at the National Hospital, Garki, General Hospital and other government-owned hospitals in Abuja, which were yet to be tallied.

There were palpable anxieties at the Louis Edet House yesterday that many mobile policemen, especially females, who hang about in the small office provided for them near the entrance gate, may have been affected in their numbers, as they always hang around the parking lot or hold series of drills in the open space in front of their office almost most of the time.
However, there was no official confirmation, as efforts to get official update on situation report were rebuffed by the police. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olusola Amore promised to “issue a statement if there is anything to say.”
