Police dock car dealer over alleged N1.8m fraud
Headlines, Nigerian Police Tuesday, December 6th, 2011LAGOS: A car dealer, Henry Usifo, was on Monday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, with the alleged fraud of N1.8 million.
Usifo, 33, is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and fraud.
The prosecutor, SP. Eshiet Eshiet, said that the accused collected the money from one Mr Anthony Okoye under the pretext to help him to purchase a Honda Accord saloon car.
Eshiet said that the incident happened on Nov. 18, 2010 at Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
He stated that the accused did not supply the car and failed to return the money to Okoye.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 309 and 419 Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Oyindamola Ogala granted the accused N500,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till Dec. 14 for further hearing. (NAN)
