Police dole out N52m to families of slain officers
Headlines, Nigerian Police Saturday, September 10th, 2011
The police on Friday said it had presented cheques worth N52,272,970 to the next-of-kin and beneficiaries of 150 police officers and men who died in the line of duty.
A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olusola Amore, said the cheques were presented by the Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim.
It said Ringim charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money and be wary of fraudsters who may want to defraud them of the money that is meant to ameliorate their condition and that of their dependants.
He advised the beneficiaries to assist the families of those officers and men who lost their lives in the service to their fatherland.
The IG said that no amount of money would be enough to replace the life of their breadwinners who died in the course of serving their country.
