Rivers Police Kill 3 Kidnap Suspects

Police in Rivers State have shot and killed three hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers for allegedly attempting to rob and kidnap one Sandra Umoh.

  Police sources said the hoodlum’s vehicle was intercepted by Anti-Crime Policemen on stop-and- search at Akpajo. But the hoodlums quickly took to their heels and escaped, while the victim was rescued and her money, vehicle and other belongings recovered.

The Rivers police PRRO, Mrs Rita Inoma Abbey said the hoodlums numbering about four were said to have attacked Mrs Umoh of Eliminigwe Estate Phase I, at Elelenwo in Port Harcourt.

She said the hoodlums ransacked the House of the victim and collected a cash of N750,000 and other personal valuables. But luck ran out of the hoodlums when they took the victims along, in her ash colour Toyota High Lander Jeep with Reg. No A317 AND but they were intercepted at the check point.

Police identified the suspects as Humphrey Birabi, Tambari and Paulo Potomo a.k.a Paul, all of B-Dere community in Gokana local government area of Rivers State.

According to her the state police command was determined to fish out the remaining fleeing suspects.

She said the Rivers State command has been re-positioned to effectively protect lives and property and urged members of the public to always co-operate with the police to fish out criminal suspects in the state.

Meanwhile, the anti-kidnap squad of the state police have rescued the wife of a staff of Agip Oil Company. Mrs Debby Ezeke and her security guard, Mr Emmanuel.

The victims were reported to have been abducted by three armed men at plot 4, Elder Akarecho street, Off Rumuolumeni Road, Port Harcourt.

According to Mrs Abbey, police patrol team from Rumuolumeni Police Division, SARS, SOS and Metro patrol swiftly chased the hoodlum in the bush at Mgboduliah village and it took the patrol team about five hours search in the bush before they finally rescued the victims unhurt and subsequent recovery of one rifle with its magazine.
