SSS uncovers new militant camps in Rivers, arrests 2
Niger Delta, Rivers, State News Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011The State Security Services (SSS), on Wednesday, paraded two suspected militants for allegedly re-establishing militant camps around Kula in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Parading the suspects in Port Harcourt alongside 11 others, who had allegedly been involved in impersonation, the Director of the service in Rivers State, Douglas Dogo, said the suspected militants, Sopakiriba Teme Igbikis and Akobo Erise Dokubo, had been terrorising the Kula area for long.
Dogo, who was represented by Assistant Director (Operations and Intelligence), Kunle Ajanaku, said the arrest of the terrorists on January 21 followed series of complaints by chiefs and people of Kula.
According to him, the duo had re-established militant camps in the area, recruiting other elements from the minions formerly controlled by ex-militant leaders like Kenneth Opusingi, Christian Don-Pedro, as well as Tamunotonye Kuna, also known as Obese, who was arrested last year by the Joint Task Force (JTF).
