‘Unacceptable’, Police react to orderly carrying Atiku’s wife handbag
Headlines, Nigerian Police Friday, October 7th, 2022
By Efosa TaiwoThe Nigeria Police have described as unacceptable the action of a policewoman carrying a handbag alleged to belong to Titi Abubakar, the wife of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The yet-to-be identified orderly was captured in a series of photos carrying the handbag and standing right behind Mrs. Abubakar at the unveiling of a women-based initiative in Abuja on Wednesday. Social media has been agog ever since the photos were shared by the PDP presidential candidate on his Twitter account with many agitated over what they term a disrespect to the Nigeria Police. Reacting to the photos, the force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi via his Twitter account faulted the action of the orderly, adding that she will be fished out for the right sanctions to be meted out. Adejobi described as “bad” for an orderly to carry the bag of their principal, saying such action makes them incapacitated to perform their police duties. He added that such action will not be allowed to continue in the system as much as the police are intentional about reforming its system. He wrote,“This is not acceptable. We have commenced necessary action on this. We will fish her out and get across to the principal.” Adejobi said in a series of tweets. “To us in the police, it’s an absurdity and should not be allowed to continue. “To you, it might not be serious but to us, it’s serious for many reasons some of which are known to you as well. We don’t need any sentiment if at all we are serious about reform. “My brother, this is bad for an orderly to carry bag for her madam, more so that the madam is not a service(sic) police officer. How does she defend her if there is any attack on her?” |
