Zamfara govt donates 20 operational vehicles to police
Governors, Headlines, Nigerian Police, State News, Zamfara Monday, August 8th, 2011Zamfara State government has donated 20 operational vehicles, bought at the cost of N101million to the police in its efforts to help the security outfit to combat crime.
Presenting the 20 pickup vans equipped with modern communication gadgets to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alhaji Hafiz Ringim, at the state police headquarters, Gusau, the state governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yar, said the donation of the vehicles to the police in less than 100 days of his administration was an indication of his commitment to rid the state of crime.
He said the donation was also aimed at complementing the Federal Government’s efforts in the provision of necessary logistics to security agencies to face the numerous security challenges in the country.
“It is pertinent to note that among the many goals which every government seeks to achieve, the most critical one is the protection of life and property of the citizenry. All other goals such as wealth creation and general wellbeing of the people cannot be realised without security of life and property”, he said.
He urged the police and other security agencies in the country to build trust and confidence in members of the public for the people to appreciate the fact that, security is a collective responsibility.
