12-year-old physically- challenged girl allegedly raped in Osogbo
Headlines, Osun, State News Wednesday, September 21st, 2011A 30-year-old man, Kabiru Oseni accused of raping a 12-year-old physically challenged girl is now cooling his heels in Ilesa Prison. Kabiru, a father of a two-year- old girl, was alleged to have committed the crime at Adana compound, Gbonmi, Osogbo.
He was arraigned in an Osogbo Magistrate Court and pleaded not guilty.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Solomon Oladele said the accused had a carnal knowledge of his victim, who is a primary three pupil.
“After satisfying his sexual urge, Kabiru abandoned the poor girl in the pool of her blood and took to his heels. The physically challenged girl managed to find her way out of the room with stains of blood all over her. Some neighbours who saw her, took her to a hospital,” he said.
Kabir is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful carnal knowledge and assault.
The offences contravened section 516(A) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State 2003.
Kabiru’s counsel, Mr. Seye Oluyombo’s plea for his client’s bail was not granted as the Magistrate, Olusola Aluko ordered that the accused be remanded at Ilesa prison custody.
The case was adjourned till October 13, 2011 for mention.
