No fewer than 24 persons have so far indicated their interest to contest for the Rivers State governorship seat in 2015, Daily Sun exclusively gathered.

Among them are the former leader of the state House of Assembly under Dr Peter Odili’s administration, Dr Tam Gogo Jaja; the Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike and a former militant leader, Ateke Tom.

Daily Sun checks revealed   that the list of interested aspirants was compiled during a crucial meeting convened recently in Lagos, by   an elder statesman and former Director-General of the State SecurityService (SSS), Chief A.K Horsfall.

It was also gathered that other governorship aspirants in the state from other parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), were invited to the meeting, but they were absent due to what they termed “short notice.”

Sources said Chief Horsfall convened the meeting to avoid the return of thuggery and other forms of political violence in the state.

Other persons aspiring to occupy the Brick House after Governor Amaechi’s tenure in 2015, include  Mrs. Bob-Abbey Hart, Becks Dagogo Jack, Professor Don Baridam, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Senator Lee Maeba, Nimi Walson-Jack and Prince Tony Princewill.
