Nigeria ‘ll be Africa’s economic power by 2030 if … –Pakistan envoy
Headlines Wednesday, December 29th, 2010THE Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan, Ahmed Sirohey, in Abuja, on Wednesday, said if Nigeria was able to manage its resources properly, it has the potential of being Africa’s economic power by 2030.
This came just as he called for stronger bilateral ties between Nigeria and his country, noting that Pakistan was ready to help Nigeria in the area of development.
“Nigeria and Pakistan have a lot of similarities and we can build on them,” he said, adding that he was writing a book on how Nigeria could be economic power in Africa by 2030, if the resources were managed well.
He was, however, of the opinion that Nigeria had no reason to import primary products like rice, textiles, among others, but should be able to export such items to other countries.
The Pakistani envoy, while briefing journalists on the forthcoming Expo Pakistan 2011, said there was no trade agreement between Nigeria and his country yet, adding that there was ongoing negotiation on trade agreement with government representatives.
When the agreements were concluded, according to him, Pakistani government would open trade mission in Lagos, while Nigeria was expected to open its trade mission in Karachi.wp_posts
