5-month-old baby enjoys salary in Zamfara – Dep gov
State News, Zamfara Sunday, August 28th, 2011Worried by the increasing rate of ghost workers on the pay roll of the 14 local councils of Zamfara State, the state government is to embark on a verification exercise in order to fish them out.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, in Gusau on Friday.
He said the action was to sanitise the local council workforce, especially when it was discovered that in one of the local government councils, a five month old boy had been collecting salary as a staff.
According to him, there were many children under six years of age on the pay roll of some councils.
Wakkala attributed this fraud to parental influence of powerful brokers. However, he said that the government will find ways to deal with such act.
‘Some may not like it, but we are sure it will bring justice to other staff of the local government and the people of the state.
“I was astonished when I was informed that there was a man whose five month old baby and is collecting salary.
