1 die, 2 injured as truck rams into Mark’s convoy
Legislature, Senate Sunday, September 25th, 2011A heavy duty truck belonging to a conglomerate, on Sunday, rammed into the convoy of the Senate President, Senator David Mark, killing a policeman attached to the convoy, while also injuring two others.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Senator Mark, Mr Paul Mumeh, indicated that the incident happened in Otukpo, Benue State, Mark’s home town.
According to the statement, the truck killed the driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy, a policeman, while leaving two others injured.
“The remains of the dead driver, Inspector Honour-able Abah, have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State mortuary, while the injured, Mr James Ogwuche and Mr Rasheed Quadiri, are receiving medical attention at the same hospital,” the statement read.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) helped to evacuate the victims to the hospital, while the driver of the truck was said to have fled into the bush.
