Boko Haram: Egbesu threatens reprisal attack
Boko Haram, Headlines Wednesday, October 19th, 2011Some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the Niger Delta are fleeing the region following the threat by a militant group, Egbesu Mightier Fraternity, to bomb mosques in the region within seven days in retaliation for the series of explosion in the North by the Boko Haram sect.
Nigerian Tribune gathered on Tuesday that while some of the youth corps members had left the region, others are mounting pressure on their zonal directors to allow them to travel home, apparently for fear of the threat by the militant group.
“Some of the youth corps members have left the zone. Others are requesting for permission to be allowed to travel home. We found out from them that their request was for safety purposes because of the threat by a militant group to attack mosques in reaction to the Boko Haram bombings,” a source said.
Egbesu Mightier Fraternity had issued a statement dated October 10, 2011, advising northern Muslims to leave the Niger Delta within seven days adding that, failure to do so, would attract attack on mosques and northern Muslims in the region.
