Ondo protests assault on ladies
Headlines, Ondo, State News Sunday, November 6th, 2011Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Olayinka Alabi, has condemned an alleged inhuman treatment purportedly meted out to two women in the state.
She warned that the state government would not tolerate any form of molestation of any resident of the state especially women.
Mrs. Alabi, in a statement, said any attempt by anyone or group of people to denigrate womanhood in the state will be vehemently resisted.
The commissioner expressed the sympathy of the state government to the affected ladies and pledged that everything would be done to ensure their rehabilitation and re-integration into the society through counselling.
She explained that her ministry was discussing with the relevant security agencies and human rights organizations to ensure that the culprits are brought to book, informing that she had been assured by the authorities that investigation had begun on the issue.
In a released development, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said “Governor Olusegun Mimiko, a man with a caring heart and respect for the dignity of human life, has directed that anyone, no matter how highly placed in the society who involve, himself in criminal acts, be arrested by security agents immediately.”
The commissioner disclosed that as soon as the governor got hint of the alleged assault, he ordered a thorough investigation, instructing that whoever is found culpable be made to face the wrath of the law.
Akinmade assured that the state government would not condone any form of lawlessness and acts that could subject any citizen of Ondo to inhuman treatment.
