Ondo Police parade suspected kidnapper, ex-convict

AKURE—AN ex-convict Segun Ojo and a suspected kidnapper Tolulope Adedayo have been arrested and paraded by the Ondo State Police Command.
Speaking yesterday in Akure, the state Police image maker, Adeniran Aremu, said that the ex- convict who had served a 14-year jail term was arrested for stealing.
Aremu added that Adedayo was arrested based on a report made to the state Anti Robbery Squad by one Mr. Babagbemi Coker.
According to the report, Coker told the police that he received two text messages from Adedayo and his gang with a threat that they had been paid to kidnap any member of his family.
Consequently detectives from SARS according to Aremu, commenced investigation on the telephone number used to send the threat messages.
He said Adedayo who was believed to be the principal suspect, was arrested and that he had confessed to the crime while the SIM card and the handset used to send the message were recovered.
Adeniran also explained that Ojo was arrested for allegedly breaking into the shop of one Adesanya Fayehun were he was said to have looted various items.
He said “based on the information, detectives from SARS swung into action and arrested Ojo the principal suspect.
Ojo according to Aremu, “Ojo has confessed to the crime and the fact that he is an ex-convict who had spent 14 years behind the bar”.
The Police image maker said that various types of electronics materials were recovered from the suspects
