Christmas Day Bombing: I Lost My Only Child – Widow (His blood shall be on the hands of the sponsors, their children and grand children)

For Mrs Ehis, a widow, life may never return to normalcy after she lost her only child in the bomb blast that rocked St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, on Christmas day.

The widow who stormed the church premises during a press conference in tears said that she had lost her husband a few years ago and was left with her only son, Peter and added that he meant everything to her because he took care of her needs since her husband died.

“What am I still doing staying alive? Maybe I should just die. There is no need living. He is everything I have. He is my son, my daughter and my husband” she said amidst wailing and anguish

Peter, who LEADERSHIP gathered, was a member of the church’s Man of Order and Discipline (MOD) was among those who died during the bomb blast. But information about his death was deliberately kept away from his mother

She said “Peter was the only family I have. He is my husband and my son. Who will take care of me now? Who will cloth me? My life is finished

“Peter was always in the church. He never stayed at home. Even on his way back from work, he never comes home without stopping at the church. Who will help me?”
Meanwhile, a father of a deceased child, Mr Daniel Igbla said he was yet to get over the shock of the death of one of his sons, Joseph.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Church premises, yesterday, he said, “That day was horrible for me. My mind was telling me that something would happen.

When I woke up, I found out that four of my children went to church, later two of them came back and they were shouting ‘happy Christmas’. Suddenly we heard a blast and I saw smoke coming from the church direction and I immediately rushed to the church and started looking for two of my sons, Joseph and Abraham. I saw Joseph lying down at the church, I took him to Lucas hospital in Madalla, he was bleeding profusely, the doctor referred us to Kubwa General Hospital, before we got there, he had stopped talking.”

He however expressed gratitude to the church for accepting to take care of the burial arrangementwp_posts
