Subsidy removal: Nigeria is stable -David Mark

Senate President, David Mark has denied reports that the pockets of demonstrations witnessed in parts of the country over the recent removal of fuel subsidy have made the country unstable. Speaking to journalists in Uga, Anambra State yesterday, Mark said that the present situation in the country is normal, when compared with the prevailing factors and urged Nigerians to stay calm.

The Senate President who said he came to felicitate with Senator Andy Uba, urged the Anambra South Senatorial zone to vote again for him, noting that one could not change a winning team. According to him, “The country is not unstable. There may be problems here and there, but that is normal. My prayer for Nigeria is that 2012 will be better than 2011.

“We are currently concerned with the future of our young people, and that is what Dr. Andy Uba represents. I am here to felicitate with a respected member of the Senate who won in a free, fair and credible election. We expect you his people to vote him back into the Senate.”

Senator Mark who further disclosed that the upcoming constitutional amendment would involve Nigerian traditional rulers, he apologized for their non-inclusion during former amendments, maintaining they would have a major role to play in the grassroots governance of the peoplewp_posts
