Fashola assures Lagos residents of employment opportunities

LAGOS— Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has assured that his government was determined to ensure the creation of more employment opportunities for indigenes and non-indigenes resident in the state.

Fashola, who made the remark during the pre-50th anniversary/investiture of grand patrons/patronesses and N20m ultra modern water factory luncheon by the Holy Family Catholic Society of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba, in Lagos, said for Nigeria and Nigerians to live in peace and harmony, citizens should endeavour to live peacefully with one another irrespective of religion.

Fashola, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Jeje Bosun, thanked the Holy Family Catholic Society for recognising the people of the state.

Also speaking, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, who was represented by the first Vice President of Akwa Ibom State Community in Lagos, Mr. Cletus Eyo-Udo, said Akwa Ibom State of today was a reference point and would remain a state to be reckoned with. He urged investors to invest in the state with great expectation.

The governor and his wife, Ekaette,  were recognised by the Society for their valuable contribution to the growth of the society and the people of Akwa Ibom.

In his remarks, the Parish Priest of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Yaba, Rev. Fr. Charles Onwordi, urged Christians to unite in faith and devote more time to pray for the country and to be security conscious more than ever before in the face of  recent spate of bombings in the country, especially in the Northern parts, targeted at Christians.

He said it was only through God’s intervention and fervent prayers that the nation would be saved from all the upheavals.

Earlier in their joint remarks, President and the Chairperson, Planning Committee, Mr. Donald Okoko and Mrs Jacqueline Aaron-Etim, respectively expressed appreciation to the patrons, patronesses, grand patrons and patronesses for their numerous support.
