Ahmed Musa eyes Arsenal

Nigeria international Ahmed Musa has revealed he still nurses a dream to star for his childhood team Arsenal even after opting to join Russian club CSKA Moscow.
Musa’s five-year contract with CSKA was officially finalised Saturday and that finally put paid to a reported interest by Arsenal to sign the jet-heeled winger or forward.
“Since childhood I have supported Arsenal and someday I hope to play for ‘The Gunners’,” Musa said in an interview published by Dutch magazine Voetbal International.
The 19-year-old former Kano Pillars star had his first training with the Russian army team Thursday in Murcia, Spain.
CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky told Russian newspaper Sports Express Musa will improve his team, who are still in the reckoning for both the league championship as well as the UEFA Champions League.
“He is very, very fast, strong and technically good. He has a good shot,” said Slutsky after the player’s first training.
“But we should also remember that he is a young player and he will have a lot to learn.”
Asked whether Musa was a player to start playing immediately or in the long term, the coach replied, “Today, right now.”
Musa himself has said he will fight to be in the first team.
“I will fight to be in the first team even though I know there are many very good players in the team,” said the forward, whose transfer fee is believed to be around five million Euros.
The Nigeria star has already formed a bond with Liberia international Sekou Oliseh, who he describes as “my brother”.
Sekou lived in Nigeria when he was adopted by Nigerian football agent Churchill Oliseh, older brother of ex-Eagles skipper Sunday Oliseh.
