FG withdraws soldiers from Lagos streets

THE Federal Government, on Tuesday, ordered the withdrawal of soldiers from the streets of Lagos.

The soldiers were deployed last week to prevent further protests against the removal of fuel subsidy, a move which generated strong criticisms from the state government and some residents.

Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, denied claim that the soldiers were requested for by the state government.

Major General K. Minimah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, confirmed the withdrawal to the Nigerian Tribune.
