Baby, 2 others crushed to death in Ilaro
Headlines, Ogun, State News Monday, February 20th, 2012A baby and two other persons were crushed to death on Thursday at Oteri on the Papalanto-Ilaro highway by an articulated lorry loaded with cement.
The vehicle, with registration number JGW XB 14 XG, was said to be coming from the cement plant at Ibese in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to an eyewitness account, the articulated lorry rammed into an oncoming Mazda with registration number OG 07 LAR, instanly killing the three occupants of the car.
It was gathered that the driver of the lorry bolted after the incident for fear of being lynched by irate mob.
His action infuriated youths in the area who attempted to set the lorry ablaze, but the prompt intervention of security operatives prevented them for carrying out the action.
As of the time of filing this report, the identities of the deceased were unknown while their remains had been deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ilaro.
