The Enugu State Government has released about N193m to the management of Rangers Football Club for the payment of outstanding and current emoluments of the players, saying, “this was part of a concerted effort to effect a complete revitalisation of the famed outfit.”
The government has, also in collaboration with the local government councils, instituted a monetary facility that would ensure easy and regular availability of funds to the club for its operations including the effective prosecution of its campaigns.
The General Manager of the club, Chibuzo Ozo, who confirmed this on Tuesday to reporters in Enugu, said that the money released would cover the payment of match bonuses and signing-on fees dating from the 2010 /2011 season.
Ozo said that the first two installments of the sum had been paid, while warrant for the last installment had been issued.
He added that emolument of the players for the current season are being paid up to date and stated that the management was also taking other important measures to ensure the comfort and happiness of the players.
He noted that the recent change of attitude to Rangers by the state government had prompted an influx of quality players from other clubs in the country, adding that the club’s goal was to win all available trophies this year and perform creditably in the ensuing continental competitions.
