Jonathan to attend summit on nuclear security in South Korea
Africa & World Politics, Goodluck Jonathan (2010-present), Presidency Saturday, March 24th, 2012President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will today leave Abuja for Seoul South Korea, as the head of Nigeria’s delegation to the World Nuclear Security Summit, which opens on Monday, March 26, 2012.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said President Jonathan and 52 other heads of state and international organisations are expected to participate in the summit, which will discuss global cooperative measures to combat the threat of nuclear terrorism.
The protection of nuclear materials and related facilities as well as the prevention of illicit trafficking in nuclear materials are also on the agenda of the summit.
President Jonathan will also hold talks with other world leaders and meet with representatives of the Nigerian community in South Korea on the sidelines of the summit.
The President is scheduled to return to Abuja on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
