Supervising Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi yesterday got a standing ovation at the Senate Committee on Sports after volunteering to go and beg in the homes of aggrieved football administrators, who still have issues with the current board of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Speaking at the second day of the Hearing on Sports held at the National Assembly, Abdullahi, while generally suing for peace, said he was prepared to prostrate before the likes of Segun Odegbami, Harrison Jala, Tenebe and others, who at one time or the other, had contested the legitimacy of the Aminu Maigari-led board of the NFF.

“I want peace to reign within the football fraternity and if it needs me going to the homes of some aggrieved persons to prostrate before them, then I am prepared to do it”, said Abdullahi, who was greeted with a standing ovation even before he finished making his points.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, Adamu Gumba said NFF should look inwards to appease those who are aggrieved so that the football family will be united in moving the game forward. He said that this hearing would be different from others because his committee would ensure that something positive comes out of it at the end of the deliberations.

NFF had up to 17 court cases before Abdullahi stepped in as minister and started preaching peace.
