Police recover bodies of 3 drowned men in Lagos

THERE was confusion around Tolu area of Ajegunle, Lagos State, on Thursday, following the recovery of bodies of three out of the eight Hausa scavengers, who drowned in a well at Fasasi Street in the area.

The corpses of Ishan Abdul, Malik Suberu and Momoh Bari were recovered by a combined team of fire-fighters and
policemen.

The incident had, before the recovery of the bodies, led to misunderstanding between the police at Tolu police station and the Hausa community.

Members of the Hausa community had, on March 19, set ablaze two vehicles parked around the area, to protest against the drowning of their men in the well.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that problem started on March 14 when some Hausa men invaded Tolu police station to report the drowning of eight members of their community at Fasasi Street, Ajegunle

The Hausa men had claimed that the drowned people were fetching water from the well when the incident happened, insisting that there was a mystery behind the incident, while they accused the owner of the house of

fetishism.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Joseph Jaiye-oba, confirmed the recovery of the three bodies, adding that efforts were still on to see if there were more bodies in the well.
