Akingbola sues EFCC chairman over attached property
EFCC Politics, Headlines Friday, March 30th, 2012The Former Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Plc (now Access Bank), Dr Erastus Akingbola, has dragged the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, before Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of a Federal High Court in Lagos over moves by the anti-graft agency to continue to deny him access to some of his property that were attached by the court in December 2009.
In an originating summon brought pursuant to order 3 rules 6 and 7 of the court, Akingbola is contending that the attached property had not been forfeited to the Federal Government.
He is equally challenging the propriety of the EFCC in appointing one E.L. Etudo, as an agent to manage and collect rents, charges or information in respect of the said property.
Akingbola is consequently seeking a court’s declaration that the property is not forfeited to the Federal Government.
