Police hold prayer session for IG, DPO, read riot act to criminals
Nigerian Police Monday, May 14th, 2012Criminals still operating in Aba, Abia State have been told to look for
lawful alternative means of livelihood or relocate from the city, as the police
have vowed to deal with them.
Giving the warning in Aba during a prayer
session, held for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other senior police
officers, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ndiegoro Divisional Police
Station, Mr. Usman Abdulrahman said, the note of warning became imperative,
owing to the present security challenges in parts of the country.
He said
since he arrived the area in November 2011, peace have gradually returned to the
place, owing to the arrest of several criminal elements in and around the area.
He explained that the essence of the prayer was to draw closer to God especially
in these times the country was facing a lot of security challenges.
“You
need God in whatever thing you do. The essence of the prayer is to thank God for
his mercies and to guide the IGP, as he strive to tackle the security problems
facing the country,” he added. Preaching on the topic “Answering the call of
Jesus for a touch, Rev. Ogbu Onyeije, who represented the Aba District
Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Rev. Dr. G.O Chukwu stressed the need for
Nigerians to receive a touch from Jesus.
He said, if Nigerians receive
the touch of Jesus Christ, the problems facing the country would be a thing of
the past.
Rev. Michael Anya, the coordinator of military and paramilitary
ministries of the Assemblies of God in Aba, said the ministry provides prayer
sessions for the military and military personnel in the area.
Copies of
the Holy Bible were donated to the DPO by Rev. Anya, as special prayers were
also offered for the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Mr. Ambrose
Aishaba.
