Alake’s Palace Gutted By Fire
Headlines Saturday, May 26th, 2012A section of the ancient palace of the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, on Thursday, was gutted by fire.
The incident, Saturday Tribune learnt, happened in the early hours of the day and affected the ground floor reception hall of the palace.
Oba Gbadebo was said to be in when the fire started, but there was prompt intervention of the men of the State Fire Services who promptly put the fire under control. An account told Saturday Tribune that the fire incident was as a result of power surge.
Some of the early callers to the palace were the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa and the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu.
The representatives of the state government were said to have promised to rehabilitate the affected section of the palace.wp_posts
