Sudanese terrorist, nine others arrested in Kano•Confess to killing FRSC officials, others

THE Kano State police command has arrested a Sudanese and nine other suspects in connection with terror attacks on security personnel, especially the recent killing of two members of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state.

A statement signed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, on Friday, said eight of the suspects were being quizzed over the killing of two policemen in Dawanu area, while the two others were found to be the masterminds of the killing the two FRSC officials, in Madobi.

The commissioner stated that three AK47 rifles, two of which belonged to the slain policemen, were recovered from the suspects after their arrest in an uncompleted building in a Dawanu neighbourhood.

According to the police boss, one of the suspects died in a hospital from gunshot wounds which he sustained during the process of the arrest.

He said one of the suspects, Ibrahim Inusa of Sudanese parentage with no fixed address, was involved in the killing of the road safety men.

“One of the suspects, Ibrahim Inusa, together with others at large, were fond of killing their victims. During investigation, he confessed to organising and participating in the killing of civilians and security personnel at Gaida, Sheka, Gwale and other parts of the Kano metropolis,” Idris said.

The police boss said Inuwa claimed that the FRSC officials were killed for arresting their motorcycles.

According to the commissioner, Inuwa said the victims were lured with a telephone call that there was an accident along Madobi Road, after

which they were ambushed and killed on their way to carry out an intervention at the phantom accident scene.

Some of the suspects, Idris said, owned up to the attack at a point close to Sani Abacha Youth Center, in which a mobile policeman was killed.

He said they also admitted participating in several assassinations.

According to the commissioner, they were once hired by a man to assassinate someone who was suspected to be having an affair with his ‘boyfriend’. They trailed the man on his motorcycle on Zoo Road and killed him, he said.

The police boss added that Inuwa also claimed to derive pleasure in killing people.

According to him, investigations were on to arrest all his accomplices.
