Rivers state proposes N490.3 billion for 2013
Rivers, State News Wednesday, December 26th, 2012Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of River state, South-South Nigeria has
presented a budget of N490.32 billion to the state House of
Assembly for consideration. The figure represents 11.95% increase
from 2012 budget.
Out of the amount, capital expenditure gets N314.30 billion while recurrent
spending is N176.02 billion.
Governor Ameachi said that the budget would enable the
government achieve its developmental goals and targets for 2013
adding that all stakeholders were adequately consulted before
arriving at the figure.
“We took pains and consulted broadly with relevant stakeholders,
bureaucrats and experts during its preparation. We are committed
to ensuring that no project is left uncompleted in the life of this
administration.” He stated.
The Breakdown of the budget shows works ministry has N65 billion,
Commerce and Industry N400 million, Energy and Natural
Resources will spend N160 million. Power gets N15 billion,
Transport N8.5 billion, while Agriculture is N4.03 billion.
Also, Education N47.81billion, Health N10.23 billion, Sports N3.04
billion, Information N1.2 billion, Women Affair N600 million, Culture
and Tourism N1.12 billion, Social Welfare and Rehabilitation had
N500 million.
Other provisions are: Housing, N3 billion, Ministry of Environment,
N3 billion, Water Resources, N25.5 billion, Lands and Survey, N800
million, Urban Development, N1.8 billion, Housing and Property
Development Authority, N200 million, Waste Management Agency,
N3 billion, Environmental Protection Agency, N200 million, and
Urban Beautification, Parks And Gardens, N100 million.
