English fans boo Osaze Odimweigie

WEST Brom manager, Steve Clarke, on Saturday incurred home fans’ wrath when he ventured to introduce Nigerian international, Osaze Odemwingie for match hero, Romero Lukaku in a 2-1 win over Sunderland at The Hawthorns in a Barclay’s Premier League clash.
Odemwingie came on in the 87th minute but was booed by home fans who are yet to forgive the striker for trying to force a January deadline move to Queens Park Rangers.
Early on, Odemwingie, who received his first call up since his botched deadline move, was predictably booed by the home fans before kick-off when the announcer at The Hawthorns read his name out.
The striker had previously been critical of West Brom for rejecting QPR’s advances, and had made his views known in a series, of tweets.
Clarke on Friday had tried to do the damage control for the Nigerian forward when he called on the club’s fans to overlook his excesses and back the team.
On a positive note, Lukaku’s brace in the match against Sunderland secured West Brom their first victory at The Hawthorns since December.
Craig Gardner was penalised for handling Liam Ridgwell’s cross, giving Lukaku the chance to beat Simon Mignolet from the penalty spot.
Lukaku doubled his tally by pouncing on Titus Bramble’s lazy backpass, shooting low beyond the helpless Mignolet.
Stephane Sessegnon then set up a tense finish by scoring late from 12 yards.
At the Loftus Road, Robin van Persie suffered a bruised hip rib after he was forced off injured during Manchester United’s 2-0 win at QPR following an accidental clash with a cameraman.
Speaking afterwards, manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed his £24million summer signing from Arsenal would be assessed in the morning.
Van Persie has been a virtual ever-present for United this season having finally put to bed claims he was injury-prone after only managing bursts of fitness before his final 18 months at Arsenal.
