PORT HARCOURT — Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Mr. Felix Obuah, has dismissed as mere speculations, allegations of plot to impeach Governor Chibuike Amaechi of the state.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday, at the state secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt, Obuah said his cardinal programme was to unite the party to ensure it wins future elections in the state.
He said he will work with the state government to develop the 23 local government areas of the state.
He said: “I have come to unite the party and not to impeach the governor. Our duty is to help the government develop the 23 local government areas of the state. None of my executive has said we want to impeach the governor.”
Calling on residents to ignore calls to embark on mass protests against the alleged plan to impeach the governor, Obuah said his administration would give room to all party members to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party.
“My intention is to unite the party. I can’t work in isolation. PDP is one family. We should all join hands to move the party forward.”
Obuah said the party would support the state government to achieve its lofty programmes for the people but added that it would not hesitate to disagree with the governor, if he fails to deliver dividends of democracy.
