Barely 24 hours after the former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, formally withdrew the claim of his alleged intimate relationship with Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, he has also retracted a similar statement he made on Miss Chioma Anasoh and Miss Adaobi Uchegbu.
Recall that the former minister had in an article entitled: “A Word for Those Who Call Me A Tribalist,” claimed to have had intimate relationships with the trio of Ojukwu, Anasoh and Uchegbu over the years.
Mr. Akinola Babatunde Rotimi, writing on behalf of Fani-Kayode in a statement made available to Sunday Sun said, “Our client knew Miss Chioma Anasoh between the years of 2004 and 2008 and Miss Adaobi Uchegbu between the years of 2002 and 2004. They were good friends at the time though he has not seen them for five and nine years respectively. As our client said earlier through his press secretary, some of the words he used to describe his friendship with Miss Anasoh and Miss Uchegbu in his article titled ‘’A Word For Those Who Call Me A Tribalist’’ were indiscreet. He hereby withdraws those words.’’
The retraction followed the seven day ultimatum issued by Bianca to Fani-Kayode to withdraw his earlier claim or risk court action for defamation of character.
In the retraction published by Daily Sun last Friday, Fani-Kayode had admitted that some of the words he used to describe his friendship with Bianca were indiscreet, hence, his decision to withdraw them.
