The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Kehinde Adejuwon, for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl at Oja Odan in Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The suspect was arrested by a team of detectives attached to the Ayetoro Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police Gbola Adigun, after the father of the victim reported the incident to the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday that the suspect had already confessed to the crime.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said that the suspect would be made to face the wrath of the law.
He added that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered the transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
“The command will always wage war on such terrible individuals who are fond of engaging themselves in this ungodly act.
“We will always work hand in hand with relevant agencies to put an end to this menace. Enough is enough,” the police spokesman said.
