Police College graduates 71 detectives
Headlines, Nigerian Police Tuesday, April 15th, 2014The Nigeria Police Staff College, Jos, on Tuesday, graduated 71 detectives who participated in the college’s Advanced Detective Course.
Addressing the graduates at a ceremony in Jos, the College Commandant, AIG Bala Hassan, said the six-week course was part of the force’s deliberate attempt to strengthen its operations.
Hassan said the security challenges facing the country in recent times called for training and subjection of officers in intensive academic, in-depth investigation and practical duties.
The commandant added that the course would equip the participants with modern techniques and practical in-depth knowledge of crime prevention, detection, prosecution and weapon handling.
The course, he noted, would also keep the participants abreast with current developments in the application of laws relating to crime detection, prevention and prosecution.
He commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, and his management team for the ongoing infrastructure development in the college.
He urged the graduates to put to use the knowledge acquired and impact same on their colleagues who could not participate.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, DSP Daima Ogini, thanked the I-G, the commandant and resource persons, whose efforts helped at enhancing their professional and managerial skills.
“As security and law enforcement officers that are well equipped, we shall no doubt be ready to assume greater responsibilities in the areas of investigation and prosecution of cases,” she said.
