Inneh: I still insist that the best way to nip in the bud the activities of the Boko Haram elements is by allowing every state to provide security to its citizens by way of state policing. The police will know all the people in their localities and will be quick to identify any strange faces in the community. This will enable them to monitor promptly everybody’s movement within the community and curtail any impending attack by hoodlums in their areas of jurisdiction
Dr. Hope: The declaration is an act of treason and attack on all Nigerians. The commander-in-chief of the armed forces should order an invasion of the entire Boko Haram enclave. The security men being used to harass political opponents should be deployed in full might to protect all Nigerians in that region. We cannotcontinue to wait for Boko Haram’s next attack before this government do something concrete to safeguard the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
Pesuzok: These Boko Haram guys have to be taken seriously. We as a country need to stand together in tackling this menace. It might turn to the next ISIS in Africa.
The more Boko Haram unleashes terror, the more it gets recognition and support from other terrorists in the world. There was a time we used to say that no Nigerian can be a suicide bomber, but can we say that today? We might be saying now that it is political; Nigeria cannot be like Iraq; and all that. But let’s pray that Nigeria doesn’t turn into another Iraq in years ahead.
The south, east and west might think that the insurgency cannot spread to their territory. They are still categorised as being small, yet the Nigerian Army is having difficulty crushing them. So when we look at Boko Haram today, we should also be thinking of a potential ISIS tomorrow if nothing is done.
