Suntai returns, thanks Nigerians •Acting gov, Danjuma, others receive him
Headlines, State News, Taraba Monday, September 15th, 2014TARABA State governor, Danbaba Suntai, on Saturday, returned to Nigeria after several months of medical trip to London.
Suntai, who was involved in an air crash in 2012, returned after 10 months of medical trip abroad, but on his return, the Taraba State House of Assembly, said he was unfit to assume duties, then the governor left for another medical trip to London two months ago and returned on Saturday.
The governor, who arrived at about 10.15 p.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was received by the acting governor of the state, Umar Garba, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Dairus Ishaku and other top dignitaries in Taraba State.
From the airport, the governor was taken to the residence of Theophilus Danjuma in Asokoro.
While addressing the press, Governor Suntai said: “I just arrived in Nigeria after my treatment abroad, I am happy you all are here to receive me and thank you all for your prayers and support.”
Also during an interview, the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affair, Ishaku said “he spoke to you briefly and you can see he was able to communicate with each one of us. We thank God he is much better than he left, we are hopeful that he should be able to assume his duties.”
Former governor of Taraba State, Reverend Jolly Nyame, who was also present at the reception, said “for anybody, who saw him when he travelled abroad, will now see him that he is very well.
“In the next few days, he will address you and tell you the next action that he we are going to take.”
According to his aides, the governor would be addressing the press this week to update them on the next line of action.
