Dr.Tambuwal said the decision came up after exhaustive deliberations and critical examination of series of issues arising from the 2010 Hajj operations, adding that NAHCON would work out modalities as well as proper coordination of movement of pilgrims to Madinah to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
Other issues contained in the five-page communiqué include the pilgrims education and orientation. They agreed that there was the need for proper Education, orientation and sensitisation of pilgrims on Hajj rites and general conduct. The conference also resolved that the feeding arrangement at Mina and Arafat should be maintained and improved upon, in addition to expanding the committee, while commending the new transportation system. He called for improvement in the dissemination of accurate and timely information to ensure firm control and orderly movement of pilgrims, even as NAHCON was also to sanction any defaulting tour operator.
Luggage policy of 40kg check-in and 10kg single hand luggage was to be retained and uniformly enforced by states, air carriers and NAHCON, while penalty on breaches of airlift agreement would be binding on all airlines and the states.
