Falae rescued through aerial, ground operations – Police
Headlines Thursday, September 24th, 2015The police have said the rescue of a former Secretary to the Federal Government, Chief Olu Falae, from his captors on Thursday in Owo, Ondo State, was effected through aerial and land operations, which were coordinated by the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase.
Falae, also a former Minister of Finance, was abducted last Monday in his farm by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who demanded N100m ransom to free him.
The police spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, in a statement in Abuja said the operations, which started in the early hours of the day, involved combing of “every nook and cranny of Ondo state till success was achieved in Owo.”
Speaking in Owo while re-uniting the former presidential candidate with his family, the IG warned criminals to have a rethink, stressing that the police and other security agencies would deal decisively with miscreants and law-breakers.
He said, “Those who think Nigeria is lawless should have a rethink as the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies are everywhere to deal decisively with those miscreants who intend to test the capabilities of the Force.”
Arase said the police would not let up till the perpetrators of the dastardly act were brought to book.
He stated that the former SGF was in good health in spite of his four-day ordeal in the hands of his abductors.
