Senegalese coach wary of ‘very experienced’ Nigeria
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Tuesday, December 8th, 2015Senegal U-23 coach Serigne Saliou Dia insisted that they must keep their focus ahead of their clash with Nigeria in the semifinals of the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.
The tournament hosts finished top of Group A to book their spot in the last four of the competition, after enjoying consecutive victories over South Africa, Tunisia and Zambia.
And the young Lions will be determined to extend their winning run against the Nigerians and punch their ticket for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
“What is important is that we remain true to ourselves. We must rely on our qualities and keep our values,” Dia told the media.
“We must try to avoid mistakes. We are going to impose our game so we can qualify,” added the tactician, who, however, does not underestimate their opponents.
“It is going to be a very tough match. It is a semifinal and a qualifier to the Rio Summer Olympics. Nigeria are used to these competitions and are very experienced.”
The game will kick off at Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor at 6:00pm today.
