Citing alleged perennial injustice to southerners, some Niger Delta militant groups have backed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to boycott the November 2017 governorship election in Anambra State.
Consisting the Concerned Militant Leaders (CML), Niger Delta People Democratic Front (NDPDF) and Rainbow Marabas Squad (RMS), the groups said it was sad for the Federal Government to keep mum over the May 30, 2016 killings on Biafra Day celebration.
They insisted that the injustice must first be addressed before any election could take place in the state.
Leaders of the groups, General Ben, General Playboy and General Aneaja, in an online statement yesterday in Port Harcourt, said the decision was taken after their meeting on Tuesday in Rivers State.
However, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra has vowed to go after those going against the upcoming polls, insisting that the exercise must hold as planned.
Speaking during a visit to an erosion site along MINAJ road, Odume Obosi layout, near Onitsha in Idemili North Local Council, warned hoodlums and agitators to steer clear of the state.
He accused the masterminds as people who do not have the interest of the people at heart.
