Breaking news: U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee passes two articles of impeachment on Donald J. Trump
American Politics, Headlines Friday, December 13th, 2019By New Nigerian Politics Staff Writer – (Washington DC, USA) The Judiciary Committee in the US House of Representatives today voted on two articles of impeachment accusing President Donald J. Trump of gross abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in relation to the withholding of military aid to Ukraine pending announcement of investigation by that country’s president of former US Vice President Joe Biden and his son. Joe Biden’s son was on the board of an Ukrainian utility company with an alleged monthly salary of $50,000 and Biden was a likely Democratic presidential candidate in the 2020 elections. The votes were strictly on party line with 23 Democrats voting yes to the articles and 17 Republicans voting no.
The articles will be voted on by the full House of Representatives next week. The articles are expected to be approved by the democrats controlled House. If the two (or even one) article(s) is/are approved, Donald J. Trump will be the third president to be impeached in the history of the United States. This impeachment will setup a trial in the United States Senate. But since the Senate is controlled with a slim majority by his fellow Republicans, it is expected that he will be acquitted and thus remain as president to complete his term. Andrew Jackson and Bill Clinton were impeached by the US House, but were acquitted in the Senate.wp_posts
