Bus runs into crowd at Kano CPC rally
Headlines Friday, March 25th, 2011Makole (Kano State) – Several people sustained various degrees of injuries,Thursday at Makole Town in Kano when a bus ran into a rally of the CPC, the News Agency of Nigerias (NAN) reports.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC), Alhaji Ahmed Kogari, told said the incident occurred when the driver of the vehicle, carrying supporters
of the CPC lost control and rammed into the gathering.
“The driver of the bus was moving recklessly and dangerously to the excitement of the CPC supporters but unfortunately, he lost control and ran into them, injuring more than 10 seriously,” Kogari said.
The sector commander said that all the victims had been taken to the General Hospital, Wudil in Kano for treatment.
He advised motorists to desist from such dangerous driving, especially during political rallies, which usually attracted large numbers of people.
NAN reports that most political campaigns and rallies in the state are characterised by reckless driving, involving cars, buses and motorcycles,whose operators are hired by candidates.
