Bayelsa INEC to use helicopter to lift election materials
Bayelsa, Elections 2011, State News Friday, March 25th, 2011The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa State is to use helicopters to airlift election materials in the state in the coming electioins.
It has also acquired 18 speedboats to aid it in moving men and materials.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Engr. Edwin Nwatalari told political stakeholders at a meeting in Yenagoa that though elections in the past had been characterized by irregularities and violence, the commission was now prepared to provide level playing ground for all the parties. Though Governor Timipre Sylva who was expected to deliver an address at the meeting was conspicuously absent.
The Court of Appeal reinstated deputy governor, Mr. Peremobowei Ebebi who has since defected to Labour Party was present and urged INEC to ensure that election materials get to the designated polling units on record time to avert crisis.
