Siasia says Eagles still ‘work in progress’

Samson Siasia was pleased to see his wards chalk up 7 goals in two games, plus the additional bonus of two clean sheets, but says the team is nowhere near where he wants them to be.
The Super Eagles scored four and claimed three points against Ethiopia in Sunday’s Nations Cup qualifier, and added a customary three goals against Kenya two days later, but Siasia says they are still a work in progress.
“I am very happy with the way the boys have played in these two games, and the way they have listened to what we told them to do, and we have seen the results.
“But the team is still a work in progress and we had a little problem in midfield before we made adjustments. But the boys are getting better, and by the time we play more games, they’ll get used to the way we want to play.”
Siasia has also been impressed by the effort put in by the youngsters drafted into the team. “Some of the players who have come in have done very well, and the competition is high for places.
“We want players to run for 90 minutes, to chase the ball and to play forward as much as they can. This team is doing that, and if we get the balance right, we can take on anyone without fear.”
