Sudan loses former prime minister to Covid-19
Africa & World Politics, Headlines, NNP News Thursday, November 26th, 2020(NNP) Sudan’s last prime minister, Sadiq al-Mahdi, has died at the age of 84. According to sources, he died in the United Arab Emirates where he had gone to seek treatment for corona virus infection. Sadiq al-Mahdi was the last democratically elected prime minister before he was overthrown by deposed dictator Omar al-Bashir in a coup in 1989. The former prime minister died on Thursday. Sudan has 1,210 deaths from the virus with over 16,000 infected, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
