Breaking News: One die at Maiduguri polling station explosion

A suspected bomber has reportedly died in an explosion at a polling unit in Unguwar Doki near Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The explosion, which occurred as accreditation of voters was underway, led to a fire at the abandoned nearby Maiduguri International Hotel.
Reports said the dead man was trying to detonate the bomb when he blew himself up accidentally. An unspecified number of people were injured in the blast and rushed to the hospital.
Response teams were immediately mobilised to the scene by the National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and civil Defence Corps, according NEMA’s spokesman, Mr. Yushau Shuaibu.
He, however, told THE PUNCH that he had no knowledge of any deaths
“I can confirm that there has been no death. Only injuries while victims have been taken to hospital from Unguwar Doki polling unit in Maiduguri,” he stated.
About 28 people were reportedly killed in an explosion on Friday night at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Suleja, Niger State.More details later.
