Agagu: PDP protests result of Ondo South Senatorial District
EFCC Politics, Ondo, State News Sunday, April 10th, 2011
The Peoples Democratic Party in the Ondo South Senatorial District on Sunday protested the results being collated by the Independent NationalElectoral Commission in the area.
A statement by the Chairman of the PDP in the senatorial district, Mr. Sola Adenigbo, and Secretary, Chief Ayi Olowokanga, alleged an unimaginable level of manipulation and gross abuse of electoral process perpetrated in the National Assembly Election in the area.
The party noted that the election started on a bright note with people coming out for accreditation and subsequently voting but that Labour Party allegedly colluded with security agents to subvert the will of the people during the collation of the result.
But the Publicity Secretary of the LP, Mr. Femi Okunjemiruwa, described the PDP members in the state as bad losers.
He described the election as the freest in recent time even as he maintained that all allegations against the party were mere fabrications.
The PDP statement reads in part: “In Irele, the result of the ward of our House of Representative candidate where the PDP handsomely won, was cancelled on the grounds that the ward collation officer did not add up the valid results on the EC8A forms at the ward collation centre.
“He came to Irele for the addition because it was already dark and there was no electricity. The result was cancelled despite the fact that his decision was a suggestion by the INEC officials and security agents.wp_posts
