By Matthew AtungwuThe Amadeo Event Centre, Enugu, has provided the main reason it cancelled the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s town hall meeting. In a statement on Thursday, the centre said it initially withdrew permission for the NDC town hall meeting involving Peter Obi after decoration materials associated with a political party were brought to the venue.
According to the centre, such an act violated the booking terms. The management said the venue was booked by the Nigeria Institute of Healthcare Givers and Medical Social Work Practitioners for a national meeting, not a political rally. It, however, said that it later allowed the event to proceed as a youth town hall meeting with Peter Obi to prevent a breach of peace. It also denied receiving any instruction from the Enugu State Government over the matter. DAILY POST recalls the state governor, Peter Mbah, had denied ordering the cancellation, describing the allegation as “preposterous and utter falsehood.” |
